Characteristic of Tooth
Tooth coupling was developed by Gleason company from U.S.A in 1942 and was registered for Curvic by the Gleason company. The three basic types of Tooth Coupling are (1) the Fixed Tooth Coupling, (2) the semi-Universal Coupling, and (3) the Relating Coupling. The coupling provides a positive drive along with precision centering and high load carrying capacity. The Fixed Tooth Coupling is used extensively in the construction of built-up turbine and compressor rotors for aircraft and industrial gas or steam turbine engines. the Fixed Tooth Coupling is also used today by many major machine tool manufactures for precision indexing mechanisms.
In the 4th Japan's machine tools exhibition in 1968, Tooth Coupling got into spotlight an important element as indexing positioning instrument. By rapid developing of NC and CNC machine tool, Curvic has become representative of high accuracy and super rigidity. After this, Curvic has been started to produce differently method of manufacturing the term "Tooth" in Korea.
